THE OPEN HOUSE IN VENDSYSSEL

This initial design for a private summer residence is situated on an open plot in Vendsyssel, close to Jammerbugtem. The surrounding landscape is characterised by an airy, expansive quality, a key trait the clients wished to integrate into the architecture. The brief called for a design that balances intimate sleeping quarters with a generous, open-plan kitchen-living area, featuring extensive dining space and a large central cooking space. The design strategically addresses the site's conditions and the clients’ needs through key architectural elements.

The dining area is fully retractable, allowing the internal space to open completely to the exterior, while the roof structure extends significantly beyond the façade, creating a deep overhang that provides essential cover for the adjacent terrace. During the summer months, the dwelling will appear fully transparent and permeable, mirroring the vast, open character of the surrounding Vendsyssel landscape. This approach ensures the house functions as a harmonious extension of its environment.
