RENOVATION AND EXTENSION OF 60S HOUSE
The project involves creating an integrated extension of a 1960s house in Birkerød, carried out in parallel with a full energy upgrade of the building envelope. The home is extended towards the west to provide additional space for the growing family. As part of the reorganisation of the interior, the kitchen is relocated, making room for a new, smaller open dining area.
The rear elevation of the kitchen forms a subtle spatial divider towards the extended living room, allowing the two zones to function independently without visual or acoustic disturbance. A new exterior door from the kitchen is added on the north side of the house.
All existing windows are replaced with new floor-to-ceiling mahogany windows and sliding doors. The roof is upgraded with improved insulation and finished with a new roof covering.
The original brick exterior is extended using reclaimed bricks from the former carport, ensuring a seamless and almost imperceptible transition between the new and the existing façade.
