LONGHOUSE IN ODSHERRED
Located in a forest of tall pine trees in Odsherred, the house stands as an elongated contrast to its organic surroundings. Lifted on piles and wrapped in a continuous veranda, the building appears light and grounded, creating a clear transition between the architecture and the forest floor.

The structure is based on a simple and honest post construction, where roofing felt covers both the roof and the exterior walls. By omitting gutters, the house maintains a sharp, monolithic silhouette that allows the dark surfaces to recede into the shadows of the pines, making the building feel like an integrated part of the woods.

The interior is organized into two distinct atmospheres. To the west, the house opens up to the forest in a space designed for social interaction and engagement with nature. Large glass sections and a dedicated sitting niche allow the family to gather and observe the shifting light and the life of the forest from a comfortable vantage point.
Towards the east, the pace of the house changes. This area contains two minimal sleeping cabins designed for quiet and reflection. With individual exits and skylights, these rooms are not about outward observation, but rather about inward calm and the experience of the deep silence found within the woods.

The ambition has been to create a retreat that submits to the premises of nature. Through humble materials and restrained detailing, the house seeks to be a quiet observer of its environment, ensuring that the true focus remains on the inherent beauty and stillness of the site.
